Vaccine volunteer drive attracts close to 13,000 youths to sign up

PETALING JAYA: Almost 13,000 youths have volunteered for the Malaysia Vaccine Support Volunteers (MyVAC) programme, which aims to help make the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme a success. Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican said a total of 12,831 youths have registered for the programme since February. “The mobilisation of volunteers is a very important instrument in the vaccination programme to reach herd immunity. I would like to thank the volunteers who are made up of youth. This will enable the programme to run smoother and more effectively, ” he said in a statement on Wednesday (May 12). On Wednesday, Reezal Merican visited the National Vaccine Centre in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) to see the volunteers at work.

No charges for Covid-19 vaccination at private facilities involved in immunisation programme, says Khairy

PUTRAJAYA (March 15): Individuals who get an appointment for Covid-19 vaccine injection at private hospitals or clinics involved in the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme will not have to pay any charges, said National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme Coordinating Minister Khairy Jamaluddin. The charges are borne by the government, he told a press conference on developments involving the progamme here today. Elaborating, Khairy, who is the science, technology and innovation minister, said Covid-19 vaccination centres (PPV) are set based on the address registered by the individual through the MySejahtera application. If the vaccination centre near the address given is a private hospital, then they will go to that private hospital. Everything is based on the location because we want to facilitate this immunisation programme,” he said.
