KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 6: Malaysia Rail Link Sdn Bhd (MRLSB) and China Communications Construction Company Ltd (CCCC) have agreed for the latter to appoint local sub-contractors and suppliers for at least 40 per cent of the civil works of the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project worth nearly RM10 billion.
The works, which exclude tunneling works, are meant for the implementation of the project from 2017 to 2026.
MRLSB chairman Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali said CCCC has also agreed to accord special attention on the appointment of small contractors from Grades G1-G3 categories that will directly benefit them, as well as the overall construction industry players in the country.

PETALING JAYA: East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project owner Malaysia Rail Link Sdn Bhd (MRLSB) and engineering, procurement, construction & commissioning main contractor China Communications Construction Company Ltd (CCCC) have reached an agreement for CCCC to appoint local sub-contractors and suppliers for at least 40% of the civil works of the ECRL project excluding tunneling works.
The value of the works is estimated to be up to RM10 billion for the implementation of the project from 2017 to 2026.
CCCC has also agreed to accord special attention on the appointment of small contractors from the Grades G1-G3 categories that will directly benefit them as well as the overall construction industry players in the country.
KUALA LUMPUR: Taraf Raya Sdn Bhd has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Malaysia Rail Link Sdn Bhd (MRL) and China Communications Construction (ECRL) Sdn Bhd (CCC) to explore prospective collaboration in the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project in Pahang.
Both MRL and CCC have engaged the state government to ensure 40% of civil works for the projects, excluding tunnel works, will be carried out by local sub-contractors.
Taraf Raya is a 70:30 joint venture company between Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Pahang (PKNP) and Landasan Surimas Sdn Bhd.
The latter is a 40% associate company of Kirana Masyhur Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of OCR Group Bhd
