KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 23 With the recent relaxation on domestic travel, Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) is expecting an increase in passengers at its network of airports during the upcoming long holidays.  “Our main hub, KL International Airport (IATA code: KUL) is expecting more than 99,000 domestic passengers and 19,000 international passengers for the period between Dec 24 - 31, 2020, a four-fold increase from the same period last month.  “As such, airports nationwide have increased their vigilance to ensure that all safety measures that have been put in place are well implemented so that passengers are assured of a safe and joyful travel experience in the new normal,” said MAHB group chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Shukrie Mohd Salleh in a statement.

AirAsia X says MAHB not entitled to PSC in defence filed to the latter s RM78m suit

KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 21): AirAsia X Bhd (AAX) claimed that Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) is not entitled to collect passenger service charges (PSC), among other charges, in a defence it filed against the airport operator, which is suing AAX to claim for RM78.16 million in payment owed, according to court filings sighted by The Edge. According to AAX, the Malaysian Aviation Commission (Mavcom) Act states that the PSC, PSSC (passenger security service charges), aircraft parking charges, landing charges, airside driving permit charges, airside vehicle permit charges and airport pass charges may only be collected by Mavcom and be retained in an aviation commission fund , and not by a licensed company.

KLCI slips 1 31% as investing sentiment sours amid CMCO extension

KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 18): The FBM KLCI slipped 1.31% or 21.86 points today, tracking declines in regional peers, while news of the conditional movement control order being extended weighed on domestic investing sentiment. The benchmark index settled at 1,652.49, with 852 counters in the negative versus 370 that climbed, while 474 were unchanged. Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced today that the CMCO will be extended in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Sabah till Dec 31, as Covid-19 infections in these places remain elevated. This is the fourth extension of the CMCO that was first imposed on Oct 14 and originally scheduled to end on Oct 27. The CMCO was also extended till Dec 31 in Seremban and Port Dickson in Negeri Sembilan, and in Johor Bharu, Batu Pahat and Kulai in Johor.
