MULTNOMAH COUNTY, Oregon (KPTV) Residents at a senior home in North Portland were urged to temporarily leave following an outbreak of Legionnaires’ disease on Monday.
Multnomah County Health Department said four residents at Rosemont Court located at 597 North Dekum Street had been hospitalized, and one has died.
On Monday, health officials notified more than 100 people living in the building were notified of concerns about the water system after multiple people became ill with pneumonia.
Northwest Housing Alternatives, which owns Rosemont Court, is working with the health department to relocate residents while crews work to remove any remaining Legionnaires’ bacteria.

Homeless deaths increased 23% in Multnomah County last year
The Domicile Unknown report found that 113 homeless people died in the county in 2019.
The number of homeless people who died in Multnomah County jumped 23% in 2019 increasing to 113 from 92 the year before.
The increase is documented in the new Domicile Unknown report released by Multnomah County and the Street Roots homeless advocacy organization Monday, Dec. 21. The number of deaths last year is the highest since the annual report was first published in 2012. Domicile Unknown brings to light the harsh realities and immense risks that our neighbors endure when they are forced to live outside without a stable home.
