CITY FINES BLACK LIVES MATTER SIGN OWNER: Just off Interstate 5 at the Columbia Boulevard exit in North Portland, motorists are presented with a 42-foot-long Black Lives Matter sign on the front of an industrial building at 866 North Columbia Blvd. Somebody didn t like the sign and, on Nov. 23, filed a complaint with the city s Bureau of Development Services. On Dec. 10, BDS fined owner David Gold $292 for violating the city s sign code the BLM banner, bureau determined, is too big and was installed without a permit. The Red House Autonomous Zone, Portland s version of Seattle s short-lived CHAZ, appears to be coming to end after the city issued an apology and promised to not attack supporters of the family that is at the center of a lengthy legal battle.
The Twitter account belonging to the Red House On Mississippi, named for the color of home and street it is located on, posted on Sunday asking for people to come to the area to help take down the barricades that were put in place last week. The mayor has promised the Kinney family that they will not raid Red House as long as the barricades are taken down by Monday night, the account tweeted, noting the city issued an apology.

An activist group that organized an eviction blockade in Portland said Sunday the family who previously owned the so-called Red House, on Mississippi Ave., has reached an agreement with Mayor Ted Wheeler, and the heavily fortified barriers preventing access to the neighborhood would come down.
Red House on Mississippi, an account that has tweeted directives for those participating in the occupation, said Sunday, “Our work is not going unseen! The mayor has promised the Kinney family that they will not raid Red House as long as the barricades are taken down by Monday night.”
