Six Warrior Women s Wrestlers Heading to Nationals – Mix 107 3 KIOW

Jenny Castaneda The Waldorf women’s wrestlers have had a successful season, and now they will represent Waldorf on the national stage. It was announced yesterday that six team members had been selected for the NAIA national tournament. Diana Dzaseveza earned the bid for the third time in her career, though she has yet to compete at the national tournament. In 2019 she didn’t compete after earning a bid, and the 2020 national tournament was called off due to COVID-19. Dzaseveza will compete at the 130-pound class where she recently finished runner-up at the Heart of America Conference Tournament. Akina Yamada and Berenice Espino have also been tabbed for their second national appearance. Yamada earned a bid in 2019 and is the lone Warrior who has competed at nationals. She was an NAIA All-American in 2019. Espino made her first career bid in 2020 but also wasn’t able to compete due to COVID-19. Yamada will compete at 143 after also finishing runner-up at the conference tourn

Mustang Wrestlers Take the Mat in Omaha; Freeseman Brings Home Some Hardware Mustang Wrestlers Take the Mat in Omaha; Freeseman Brings Home Some Hardware Tuesday, 02 March 2021 11:26 By Scott Bidroski The 2020-21 season for the Gordon-Rushville wrestling team culminated this past weekend with a trip to the NSAA State Wrestling Championships held at the CHI Center in Omaha. Five Mustang wrestlers qualified for the tournament, the most for the program since 2010. Here is a recap of the action for the Mustang wrestlers. Freshman Tucker Banister Banister took the mat in the 120 weight class. His first bout was against Lance Olberding from Fort Calhoun who was a returning state qualifier. Banister lost by fall in the 2nd period. Olberding went on to finish fourth overall.

South Dakota Class A and Class B State Wrestling Championships begin today Nate Wek-SDPB SportsFebruary 25, 2021Sports State Wrestling RAPID  CITY, S.D. – The 2021 SDHSAA State High School Wrestling Championships will take place at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center in Rapid City on February 25-27. This year, the state wrestling tournaments will look a tad different. Because of COVID-19 protocols, a decision was made to split up the two classes, A and B, into their own venues. While both classes are at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center complex, Class A is being housed at the Ice Arena, while the Barnett Arena will host Class B.
