CASA Offering Scholarships for Citizenship Fee to Immigrant Community CASA is offering scholarships to Montgomery County residents who cannot afford the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) naturalization filing fee. The Montgomery County Maryland Citizenship Scholarship can provide up to $300 to help offset the $725 fee for eligible applicants. Other than residing in Montgomery County, candidates must be legal residents with income under the 300% federal poverty guideline: $36,420 for single residents and $75,300 for a family of four. Although there is no due date to apply, scholarships are limited. Those who are eligible to apply may also qualify for a USCIS fee waiver. Germantown Man Arrested for Reselling Stolen Merchandise | Montgomery Community Media

Courtesy of the Montgomery County Police Department Montgomery County detectives arrested a man on Tuesday with multiple counts of theft for knowingly possessing stolen property. According to the police statement, 43-year-old Ricardo Aparicio was arrested after 4th District detectives were notified of shoplifters reselling stolen products from loss prevention employees of retailers such as Target and Safeway. The department labeled Aparicio as a “fence,” which is someone who “knowingly purchases stolen property and then resells the items to others for profit.” In 2020, Aparicio made contact with an undercover officer at his residence and sold the officer “implied stolen merchandise.” Aparicio also told the officer the type of merchandise he was looking for and gave tips on how to successfully steal items. This was enough for the police to get a warrant to search the residence and make an arrest.
