UAE weather: Fog affects visibility; it may rain today

Thick fog covered almost all the parts of Abu Dhabi on Saturday morning, affecting visibility. The National Centre for Meteorogly (NCM) said the fog formation started late on Friday will continue till 11am on Saturday and authorities have warned motorists to drive carefully.
The Abu Dhabi Police announced activation of speed reduction to 80kmph on major external roads to ensure safety of motorists. Through their social media posts, the police reminded all drivers to comply with the instructions shown on smart towers. Speed limits are automatically reduced on Abu Dhabi roads and highways during adverse weather or foggy conditions.

Relief is approaching for residents of the Gladstone region, with hot and humid conditions to make way for rain as the weekend approaches.
Bureau of Meteorology Meteorologist Pieter Claassen said conditions would become more inclement thanks to a storm surge in south-east Queensland.
“It is mostly going to be shower activity around the Gladstone region, rather than thunderstorms themselves,” Mr Claassen said.
“There is a pretty good chance of seeing showers around from Thursday into Friday.
“Thursday is a 40 per cent chance and Friday is a 50 per cent chance.”
Mr Claassen said there was also a 50 per cent chance of rain on Saturday, however, conditions would ease heading into the start of next week.

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) If you re hoping for a sunny, dry California-style Christmas this year, you re going to be disappointed. A storm system is headed for the Bay Area, just in time to ruin any outdoor, socially distanced Christmas Day plans.
The entire region is expected to see rain Friday, but just how much and when depends on where you live, says ABC7 News Meteorologist Lisa Argen.
The best chance of dry weather comes early in the morning, but by 11 a.m. the North Bay should be seeing showers. Then, the rain will push south and east, dousing everyone by Friday evening.
