Oman s share index ends marginally lower

Muscat: The MSM index closed at 3,725.35 points, down 0.15 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up 0.53 per cent at 527.41 points. Al Jazeera Steel Products, up 7.33 per cent, was the top gainer while Raysut Cement, down 6.63 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of OIFC was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of turnover.
A total number of 275 trades were executed during the day s trading session, generating a turnover of OMR0.81 million, with more than 4.5 million shares changing hands. Out of 34 traded stocks, 10 advanced, 11 declined and 13 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net sellers for OMR281,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net buyers for OMR143,000 followed by domestic investors for OMR60,000 worth of shares.

Oman's stock market, the Muscat Securities Market, has been converted into a closed joint stock company and put under the ownership of the state-owned Oman Investment Authority, state media said on Wednesday.

HM issues Royal decree converting MSM into joint stock company

Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik on Wednesday issued a Royal decree reading as follows: Royal Decree No. 5/2021 on converting Muscat Securities Market (MSM) into a closed joint stock company under the name “Muscat Bourse Company SAOG”.
Article (1) states that, by virtue of provisions of this decree, an Omani closed joint stock company shall be founded under the name “Muscat Bourse Company SAOG” and that its ownership shall be transferred to Oman Investment Authority.
Article (2) states that all the allocations, origins, rights, obligations, assets and registers of Muscat Securities Market (MSM) shall be transferred to Muscat Bourse Company SAOG.
