Family remembers former sheriff as loving man of integrity ZANESVILLE - As sheriff for more than a decade in Muskingum County, Robert Stephenson was well-respected by many who knew him, but it s his family who admired him the most.  All in all, great man. They broke the mold after him, his son Shane said. They don t even make them like that anymore. One hell of a man. Bob died on Feb. 28 at the age of 73. Born in Zanesville in 1947, he spent his entire life in the same home since he was 9 months old, leaving only briefly to serve in the Air Force where he was stationed in Japan and Montana. 

Bomb Threat Investigated at Lumi-Light Candle Company

Bomb Threat Investigated at Lumi-Light Candle Company Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz says his office dealt with a bomb threat earlier this week.  It happened Monday around 1:30 in the afternoon at the Lumi Light Corporation in Norwich.  Lutz says his bomb sniffing dogs checked the building and no explosive devices were located. The Franklin County Bomb Squad was also called to the scene. The building was evacuated and the investigation is ongoing.  Sheriff Lutz says his office does have persons of interest at this time.  There were no injuries reported.  Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office at (740) 452-3637 ext. 6009.

Bomb threat reported at United Candle on Monday, no explosives found

NORWICH - Explosive squads from three counties investigated a bomb threat Monday afternoon at the United Candle factory. Around 1:30 p.m., the Muskingum County Sheriff s Office responded to 102 Sundale Road in Norwich for a reported bomb threat, according to Sheriff Matt Lutz.  The office s explosive K-9 investigated the building. Washington and Franklin counties bomb squads also responded and investigated. The building was evacuated. No explosive devices were located, Lutz said. The investigation remains ongoing.
