Student vaccines bring Muskingum one step closer to normalcy Zanesville Times Recorder NEW CONCORD - After a year-and-a-half of campus life under COVID-19 restrictions, Muskingum University is looking forward to returning to some normalcy, starting by vaccinating nearly 300 students. Muskingum joins colleges statewide in an effort supported by the Ohio Department of Health and Gov. Mike DeWine to push for student vaccinations. On Friday, a total of 297 students and three faculty members received their single dose of the Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccine, using all 300 doses provided by the Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department.  The advantage to that is as we re nearing the end of the semester, we re able to do one dose instead of having students come back in, particularly when they may be returning home, said Holly Gleason, assistant vice president for Human Resources and Risk Management. They ll be fully vaccinated as they return to their home communities.
