2nd time in attempted murder case

YOUNGSTOWN Matt Reid, 35, again is scheduled for trial this May after being found competent to stand trial a second time.
A hearing was held this week before Judge Maureen Sweeney of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court regarding an evaluation conducted by psychologist James Pontau at Sweeney’s request.
Assistant Prosecutor Robert Andrews and Reid were in agreement with Pontau’s findings that Reid is capable of understanding the nature and objective of the proceedings against him and of assisting in his defense.
His trial is now set for 8:30 a.m. May 3.
Reid is charged with attempted murder, felonious assault, improperly discharging a weapon and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
