NORRISTOWN — Montgomery County’s Office of Public Health is temporarily canceling the distribution of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine at its vaccination clinics for two days in an abundance
NORRISTOWN Â In accordance with updated state and federal COVID-19 mitigation guidelines, Montgomery County Parks, Trails, and Historic Sites (PTHS) have announced the following updates on permitted events within their facilities.
Issuance of trail-based Special Use Permits, typically requested for organized races or other events held on regional trails will continue to be suspended through at least June 30, 2021.
This applies to the Schuylkill River Trail including the Towpath and Schuylkill East Trail, Pennypack Trail, Cross County Trail, Chester Valley Trail, Audubon Loop, Wissahickon Green Ribbon Trail, and Perkiomen Trail.

NORRISTOWN â Montgomery Countyâs Office of Public Health received 21,000 additional doses of vaccine this week from the state and officials will open two new vaccination sites, in Pottstown and Lansdale, on Friday.
âThis week, the county received our largest delivery of vaccine to date. For this week only, we are receiving a double shipment of the Johnson & Johnson one-shot vaccine, equaling 21,000 doses,â county Commissionersâ Chairwoman Dr. Valerie Arkoosh revealed during a Wednesday news briefing.
The 21,000 doses are in addition to the 5,850 Pfizer vaccines the county health department has been receiving weekly.

âThis additional vaccine will help us move quickly through our existing 1A pre-registration list and allow us to open up Phase 1B appointments later this week or early next week,â Arkoosh explained. âAs I said before, eligibility does not equal availability. HARRISBURG â The coronavirus positivity rate surged in all seven Southeast Pennsylvania counties, including Montgomery County where it increased more than two percentage points from the previous week, according to the latest week-to-week data compiled by state health officials.
Montgomery County recorded a coronavirus positivity rate of 8.1% for the period March 26 to April 1, which was an increase from the 5.7% positivity rate recorded for the period March 19 to March 25, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Healthâs COVID-19 Early Warning Monitoring System Dashboard.
Health officials believe having a positivity rate less than 5% indicates a county is controlling the spread of the virus and keeping it suppressed.
