Parent files emergency injunction against KHSAA return to play policy

MOUNT STERLING, Ky. (LEX 18) â A Mount Sterling parent has filed an emergency injunction against the Kentucky High School Athletic Association to stop a return to play policy.
This policy lays out guidelines for when students would be able to return to sports after being exposed to or testing positive for COVID-19.
In the statement released to LEX 18, the issue at hand is that if an athlete tests positive, they must sit out at least 22 days. The statement reads that this is more strict than most amateur or professional sports.
Eligibility
Do you attend a Historically Black College or University (HBCU)? Did you graduate from a Montgomery County Public High School? Answer yes to both questions and you are likely eligible to apply for a “Montgomery County Parade of Scholarships” HBCU Scholarship. To apply for the HBCU Scholarship, go to www.pvacfundinc.org and submit the application by March 15.

The Community R-6 School District has found its new leader.
Nick Larson, currently the Montgomery County High School principal, will take over superintendent duties. He’ll replace Cheryl Mack, who plans to retire after the school year. Larson will officially begin his new duties July 1.
“I’m excited for my opportunity,” he said. “But I’m going to miss my staff and the people here within the Montgomery County School District. They’ve been great to me through the entirety of my time here. I’ll miss some of the people, but I’m excited about my new role.”
Larson is also excited that he will join his wife, Haley, at the R-6 school district. Haley teaches language arts at the high school.
