NORRISTOWN â Montgomery Countyâs Office of Public Health received 21,000 additional doses of vaccine this week from the state and officials will open two new vaccination sites, in Pottstown and Lansdale, on Friday.
âThis week, the county received our largest delivery of vaccine to date. For this week only, we are receiving a double shipment of the Johnson & Johnson one-shot vaccine, equaling 21,000 doses,â county Commissionersâ Chairwoman Dr. Valerie Arkoosh revealed during a Wednesday news briefing.
The 21,000 doses are in addition to the 5,850 Pfizer vaccines the county health department has been receiving weekly.

âThis additional vaccine will help us move quickly through our existing 1A pre-registration list and allow us to open up Phase 1B appointments later this week or early next week,â Arkoosh explained. âAs I said before, eligibility does not equal availability. NORRISTOWN â As the number of new coronavirus cases continues to surge in Montgomery County, health officials announced that pre-registration for the COVID-19 vaccine is now available for residents who qualify for Phase 1B of the stateâs vaccination distribution program.
People in the following Phase 1B categories will be prioritized for appointments, according to a Pennsylvania Department of Health order:
⢠Law enforcement, which includes police, sheriffs and deputies, constables, corrections officers and staff, as well as probation and parole staff

⢠Grocery Store workers, including all workers in supermarkets and grocery stores
⢠Food and agriculture workers, including all food processing company employees, including meat, poultry, dairy processing, fresh fruit and vegetable packing operations, food manufacturing, farmworkers, farm operators, and farm managers, including at agriculture operations
NORRISTOWN â More than 200 Montgomery County residents tested positive for the coronavirus, three more people died from the virus and the number of COVID-19 hospitalized patients increased as the spring surge of the virus continues, according to the latest daily data compiled by county health officials.
The 225 daily new positive COVID-19 cases reported in the county on Tuesday brought the countyâs total number of positive cases to 52,450 since March 7, 2020, when the first two cases of the virus were identified in the county, according to the countyâs COVID-19 dashboard.
Five of the daily new cases were individuals who resided in long-term care facilities and one was an inmate at the county jail.
