DA: Scammers posing as Montgomery County detectives to coerce victim s to pay off fake warrants Published  article NORRISTOWN, Pa. - Authorities in Montgomery County are warning residents against a phone scam after several people received calls from a person who claimed to be a detective in the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department with an arrest warrant that can be paid off with a pre-loaded gift card. District Attorney Kevin R. Steele s office said the scammer speaks with a southern accent and uses a phony local number to appear legitimate. The scammers have used the names Lt. Daniels and Det. Rodriguez while contacting victims, according to investigators.

One killed in early morning DeKalb Pike accident

LOWER GWYNEDD — One person was killed and two others injured in an accident on DeKalb Pike early Thursday morning. According to Lower Gwynedd Township Police Department, the accident took place at roughly 3:28 a.m. on the 500 block of DeKalb Pike between Greycliffe Lane and Grasshopper Lane.  Police said their investigation has revealed that a sedan occupied by three adults hit a fuel truck in the rear, and the driver of the fuel truck was not hurt. Two of the occupants of the sedan were seriously injured and the third was fatally injured, according to police. - Advertisement - One of the injured was flown by medical helicopter to Temple University Hospital and the other was taken by ambulance to Abington Memorial Hospital; conditions of both were unknown as of Thursday evening.

Cheltenham man accused of possessing child pornography

CHELTENHAM — A Cheltenham man is facing child pornography charges after authorities allegedly discovered hundreds of images of such content on his cell phone. Harley R. Strauss, 46, of the unit block of South Easton Road, was arraigned before District Court Judge Elizabeth McHugh Casey on 100 counts of possessing child pornography and 100 counts of criminal use of a communication facility in connection with alleged incidents that occurred between March and April. Strauss was released on $20,000 unsecured bail to await his preliminary hearing on the charges on May 13 before District Court Judge Christopher J.
