NORRISTOWNÂ â The Montgomery County Board of Commissioners allocated more than $2 million in contracts related to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Both agreements presented at the May 20 meeting involved the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services.
Health officials required existing contracts concerning contract tracing services be renewed.

The contracts, which total roughly $1.94 million across three different companies, will remain valid for six months:
$611,191.45 for ACLAMO, of Norristown, from May 26 to Nov. 25.
$700,000 for Family Services of Montgomery County, of Eagleville, from June 8 to Dec. 7
$633,853 for VNA Community Services, of Abington, from June 8 to Dec. 7
Following the latest extension, the contract stipulates this is the â[seco]nd of [three] optional [six]-month renewal terms.â

The Maryland Department of Health reported 41 new COVID-19 cases in Montgomery County Tuesday morning. The county’s cumulative case count is 70,298.
As of May 9, the county reported that 75 people were hospitalized with COVID-19.
Montgomery County recorded no new coronavirus-related fatalities Tuesday, so the death toll remains at 1,483.
Monday, 1.58% of the COVID-19 tests done were positive. Compared to Sunday’s rate of 1.64%, this is a decrease of 0.06. The county’s positivity rate is the lowest in the state.
According to Montgomery County health officials, 43.3% of the county’s residents are fully vaccinated for COVID-19; 56.4% have received their first dose of either the Pfizer or Moderna two-dose vaccine.

According to the Montgomery County Department of Health, 40.3% of the county’s residents are fully vaccinated and 55.1% have received the first dose of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine. Currently, vaccines are available to all residents ages 16 and older at county clinics. Appointments are available online, or by email at c19vaccination@montgomerycountymd.gov, or by phone at 240-777-2982. The mass vaccination site at Montgomery College Germantown Campus accepts persons without an appointment between 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., however, making an appointment in advance saves time at the site.
The Maryland Department of Health reported 65 new COVID-19 cases in Montgomery County Friday morning. This brings the cumulative number of cases to 70,154.

The Maryland Department of Health reported 42 new COVID-19 cases in Montgomery County Tuesday morning. The county’s cumulative case count is 70,006.
As of May 2, the county reported that 83 people were hospitalized with COVID-19.
Montgomery County recorded no new coronavirus-related fatalities Tuesday, so the death toll remains at 1,477.
Monday, 2.15% of the COVID-19 tests done were positive. Compared to Sunday’s rate of 2.02%, this is an increase of 0.13. The county’s positivity rate is lower than in 20 of Maryland’s 24 jurisdictions.
According to Montgomery County health officials, 38.2% of the county’s residents are fully vaccinated for COVID-19; 53.9% have received their first dose of either the Pfizer or Moderna two-dose vaccine.

The Maryland Department of Health reported 70 new COVID-19 cases in Montgomery County Friday morning. This brings the cumulative number of cases to 69,805.
Montgomery County recorded no new coronavirus-related fatalities Friday, so the death toll remains at 1,476
There were 99 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 in the county as of April 19.
The county has a rate of 2.09% for positive COVID-19 tests, which is an increase of 0.04 from Wednesday’s rate of 2.05%. The county’s positivity rate is lower than 22 of the 24 Maryland jurisdictions.

Montgomery County relaxed limits on gatherings Tuesday at 5 p.m. Gatherings are currently limited to 50 people indoors and 100 people outdoors. Business capacity also increased from 25% to 50%.
