Consumer Reports engineers were able to operate a Tesla vehicle without anyone in the driverâs seat, and the system failed to send out a warning or indicate that the driverâs seat was empty, the magazine said Thursday.
The engineers tested Tesla Model Y this week as investigators probe an accident where two men died after their Tesla Model S, which was believed to be operating without anyone in the driverâs seat, crashed into a tree on Saturday night north of Houston.
Over several trips across half-mile closed test track, the Model Y automatically steered along painted lane lines, the magazine said.

UPDATE: 5/12/21 – There has been nothing new on this case. Although the rumors are still going on, I have notice that there has been absolutely no media reporting on this case in the United States. Just this morning I ran across a story from a reporter in Mexico that said he has an email from the FBI in Houston stating they did DNA on “Jane” and it wasn’t her. The problem is, I have seen 100s, probably 1000s of emails from federal agencies and this is NOT how it is done. FBI, CIA, DEA, all of them, do not correspond with the public via email. It was laughable to see how the “agent” even had their name on the email. It was obviously a fraud all the way around. But, the public would not know this. A fire in Montgomery County destroyed a mobile home and killed five dogs, according to the Montgomery County Police Reporter.
Dispatchers got calls around 9:10 a.m. Saturday for a fire on Bert Brown Road in Conroe. The blaze was put out when the responding fire crews from Caney Creek, Conroe and Needham fire departments arrived, but five dogs died in the flames. The fire marshal believes the fire started in a bedroom when some family members were still asleep, per the Montgomery County Police Reporter.

A man house sitting in New Caney on Wednesday night fatally shot who he says was an attempted intruder carrying a hammer.
Around 9:45 p.m., Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the 23700 block of Panky Lane about a burglary in progress. Once the deputies arrived, the caller told them he was house sitting for a friend and had heard loud banging at the back and proceeded to go check, according to the sheriff’s office.
