What are the eligibility criteria for the NB Skilled Worker stream?
The New Brunswick Skilled Worker Stream is open to foreign nationals in Canada and abroad, who have a full-time job offer in the province. The main eligibility criteria is that you intend to reside in New Brunswick. You also need to have a full time, permanent, year-round, job offer in an eligible occupation. You have to demonstrate that you are qualified for the position, and that you are offered a competitive wage. Your employer must also be willing to support the application. If you are working in a regulated occupation, you need to have the certification or license from the regulatory authority. The New Brunswick government website has more on regulated occupations as well as information on how to get certified or licensed in the province.

Navdeep Singh, originally from Punjab, India, is one of the 29 foreign nationals who have received recommendations from Vernon and the North Okanagan to apply for Canadian permanent residency via the federal Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot program.(Submitted by Navdeep Singh)
Navdeep Singh arrived in British Columbia four years ago to study, with the intention of eventually making Canada home.
But unlike many fellow newcomers, the 23-year-old from northern Punjab, India, has chosen to stay away from big cities and settle in a small Okanagan community instead.
Singh is one of the 29 foreign nationals including 10 from India who have received recommendations to apply for permanent residency from the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot committee for Vernon and surrounding municipalities in the northern Okanagan.
B.C. holds draws through its various PNP categories and streams on a weekly basis.
So far this year 740 invitations have been issued by the BC PNP.
To apply for the Skills Immigration or Express Entry BC categories candidates must first create a profile through the BC PNP’s online portal and register under its Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS).
Applicants are evaluated and issued a score based on factors such as level of education, work experience, proficiency in English and location of employment.
What is the Skills Immigration stream?
This pathway to permanent residence is for eligible foreign workers who usually already have a job offer in B.C.
Advertising, marketing and public relations managers (NOC 0124);
Other business services managers (NOC 0125);
Corporate sales managers (NOC 0601);
Financial auditors and accountants (NOC 1111);
Financial and investment analysts (NOC 1112);
Human resources professionals (NOC 1121);
Professional occupations in business management consulting (NOC 1122);
Registered nurses and registered psychiatric nurses (NOC 3012); and
Business development officers and marketing researchers and consultants (NOC 4163).
Invited Express Entry candidates need to demonstrate that they have at least one year of work experience in one of these occupations. These candidates are not yet applying for permanent residence, they are applying for a provincial nomination, which will effectively guarantee them a chance to apply for Canadian immigration in a subsequent Express Entry draw.
