Mass. Military Support Foundation organizes coat drive for veterans in Worcester
WORCESTER Distribution of winter coats to veterans at the Central Community Branch YMCA parking lot Friday is one of the ways that a Massachusetts foundation works to help veterans year round.
Massachusetts Military Support Foundation organized the event to distribute 500 coats with support from Ocean State Job Lot, Worcester Red Sox and the Central Community Branch YMCA. The distribution is part of the Buy, Give, Get Program, a drive organized by Ocean State Job Lot and military support foundations to collect and distribute coats across nine states.

M.V. Bank Charitable Foundation awards grants
The Martha’s Vineyard Bank’s Charitable Foundation gave $30,450 through grants and donations to local nonprofits in the final quarter of the 2020 fiscal year. The foundation’s grants committee meets quarterly, and is dedicated to bettering the community through organizations in the areas of education, economic development, health and human services, culture, art, and historic heritage, and community services.
The 11 organizations that were allocated funding this quarter are Cape Cod Marathon 2021, Falmouth Community Television, Museums on the Green, Falmouth Academy’s Science & Engineering Fair, M.V. Figure Skating Club Sponsorship, Massachusetts Military Support Foundation, ACE MV Adult & Continuing Education, Belonging to Each Other, Falmouth VIPs, the Oak Bluffs School PTO’s Project Gratitude, and YMCA of Cape Cod.

On Dec. 8, Officer Kevin Gena, representing the Concord Police Department, joined police department representatives from around the commonwealth at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough and picked up “Coats4Vets Buckets” provided by the Massachusetts Military Support Foundation Inc. (MMSF).
Each bucket contained coats, masks, hand sanitizer and snacks. This distribution method also help local authorities connect with veterans in their communities.
Through this program, MMSF distributes coats to veterans in need to help make sure they are safe from the winter weather. Coats4Vets is made possible through donations from Ocean State Job Lot Charitable Foundation.
Bridgewater Police Department participates in Coats4Vets Buckets

Chief Christopher D. Delmonte recently announced that the Bridgewater Police Department participated in the Massachusetts Military Support Foundation s event Coats4Vets Buckets on Dec. 8.
The event was organized by the Massachusetts Military Support Foundation in partnership with local police departments, state police barracks and local sheriff s departments to help distribute coats to veterans in need.
Local police officers from the state s 351 cities and towns convoyed in police cruisers and other police vehicles to Gillette Stadium to retrieve their buckets. Each bucket contains a coat, masks, hand sanitizer and snacks that will be distributed to veterans in local officers cities and towns. Police officers from across the state will then give out the buckets as a way to engage and connect with homeless veterans in their communities.
