MILFORD, MA The high school seniors of 2021 have had an experience like no other in a century a year upended by a pandemic and by lockdowns that kept them from enjoying many of the activities that previous seniors have taken for granted.
Patch hopes to help make it up to those seniors by giving them a special sendoff. We asked parents and other family members to pay tribute to this year s grads using a special submission form so we can publish those tributes one by one.
Kimberly Stochaj will graduate from
Massachusetts Academy of Math and Science at WPI.
Anne Ludes, currently the Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Education, will be the new director of the Massachusetts Academy of Math and Science at Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

NORTHBOROUGH, MA One Northborough senior earned a $2,500 scholarship from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. The NMSC judges high school students based on their PSATs, and awards a number of scholarships in their senior year.
Andrew Yang, who attends the Massachusetts Academy of Math and Science at WPI, was awarded. He plans to study computer science.
The NMSC announced corporate scholarship winners in April. Winners of the college-sponsored scholarships will be announced on June 2 and July 12.

Lexington High again advances in GBH s `Quiz Show

“High School Quiz Show” revealed the competition bracket for season 12 of the academic series from Boston public media producer GBH.
Lexington High School, which took home the trophy in seasons 7 and 8, is marking its 10th consecutive advancement to the bracket stage, with the longest active streak and also tying for the longest in the show’s history.
Following the program’s first-ever virtual Super Sunday qualifying quiz on Jan. 24, 17 high school teams from across Massachusetts advanced to the televised competition. In a season of firsts, “High School Quiz Show” is also welcoming four new teams, including the first team of home-schooled students in the show’s history. The two-time defending champion Boston Latin School, as well as four other former champions, also will be competing.

As the world continues to grow more intellectually advanced, so does the quality of academics, even at the earliest levels. A study from the Harvard Graduate School of Education found that children who experience quality early childhood education are less likely to be placed in special education, less likely to be held back a grade, and more likely to graduate from high school. Since many parents see their children s first foray into formal education as a make-or-break gauntlet that will define the course of their child s academic career, it stands to reason that this stress could only be amplified when it comes to choosing a high school, the time in a young person s life when they undergo many emotional, physical, and psychological changes.
