It’s tough to think of a program that has as much of a clear-cut identity as UMass.
It was drilled into Jeff Trainor by coach Greg Cannella on his recruiting visit.
“He kept it as real as he could. He told me and my family, ‘This is a hard-working school. This is a blue-collar school,’” Trainor said in an interview in January, before the team went through sporadic stops and starts due to COVID-19 protocols. “Growing up in Billerica, it was the same message we preached. I knew it was going to be the best place for me.”

FALMOUTH, MA Falmouth remained in the moderate-risk category in the latest city and town coronavirus report from the Massachusetts Department of Health Thursday.
The town s positive test rate over the last two weeks was 2.3 percent, down from 2.47 last week, according to the state report. It s still firmly in the moderate-risk, or yellow, category.
Falmouth had 56 cases over the last two weeks, or 12.8 average daily cases per 100,000 residents, versus 59 cases in last week s report. There have been 1,197 cases of the coronavirus in Falmouth.
