According to a letter to families from Superintendent of Schools Meg Dussault, those who came in close contact with the staff member have been notified and the school will continue to help the affected individuals. The new positive case comes just days after the district reported staff COVID-19 case at East Elementary School on Tuesday, a student COVID-19 case at Sharon High School on Thursday, and a staff COVID-19 case at Heights Elementary School on Saturday.

(Lauren Ramsby/Patch) HINGHAM, MA Hingham has been designated a coronavirus red zone as of Thursday due to a surge in positive cases locally and statewide. The town s status as a red zone means that is at the highest risk of COVID-19 transmission and has had at least 10 average daily cases per 10,000 residents and a 5% positivity rate. The latest statistics released by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health on Thursday reveal that there have been 797 confirmed COVID-19 case in Hingham, with 135 reported in the two weeks before Dec. 24. Hingham currently has an average daily incidence rate of 52.1 and a positivity rate of 5.09%, an increase from last week s average daily incidence rate of 40.2 and positivity rate of 4.26%.

(Shutterstock) MARTHA S VINEYARD, MA The latest weekly COVID-19 report released Wednesday by the Martha s Vineyard Boards of Health revealed that the Island has now experienced over 500 cases since the start of the pandemic. Five new cases were reported on Wednesday, according to information released by the Island boards of health. They were all asymptomatic. Including Wednesday s case count, Martha s Vineyard has experienced 512 total cases and 481 confirmed positive cases. The majority of the cases have been individuals between the ages of 30 and 39. Brockton sees highest COVID hospitalizations, most deaths since summer

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 332 city residents have died from the disease, with four additional deaths reported Friday, the most deaths reported on a single day in the city since at least July. Two of the deaths occurred on Dec. 15 and two on Dec. 16, said Dr. Richard Herman, the city s pandemic consultant. The city’s two hospitals Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital and Good Samaritan Medical Center reported 63 hospitalized patients being treated for COVID-19 on Friday, down from 47 on Thursday. Eleven of those patients are in the intensive care unit, up two from Thursday. That s the most COVID-19 patients between Brockton s two hospitals since June 1, when 65 were hospitalized.
