Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley today urged Gov. Charlie Baker to step up the Commonwealth’s vaccine rollout in her district, warning him that the state’s current efforts “continue to fall short.”
“Despite the fact that we continue to see record spikes in cases across the Commonwealth, I remain gravely concerned that your administration’s vaccination and response plans continue to fall short of serving the needs of the communities most impacted, including those in my Congressional district,” Pressley wrote in the letter dated Jan. 27.

Although the Baker administration has described the vaccine rollout as bumpy, a senior Massachusetts Department of Public Health official said Wednesday that a target to make doses available to the general public starting in April is still in play.
Kevin Cranston, DPH s assistant commissioner and director of the department s bureau of infectious diseases and laboratory sciences, said during a virtual panel discussion that the original timeline unveiled last month remains reasonable.
The Boston healthcare giant Mass General Brigham has filed plans to begin a regulatory review for plans for a new outpatient center to be built on West Park Drive in Westborough.
The outpatient center would be part of a new building at 1400 W. Park Drive, in between an existing office including the law firm Mirick O Connell and a new 150,000-square-foot research-and-development office for the medical equipment company Olympus.
Mass General Brigham, formerly known as Partners, doesn t yet have a projected opening date in mind.
The Westborough facility is one of three new outpatient centers planned for the outer suburbs of Greater Boston, along with others in Woburn and Salem, N.H. An existing outpatient center in Westwood is also slated to be expanded. Each site will offer outpatient surgery, primary care, behavioral health and specialty care such as orthopedics and neurology.
The Middlesex Sheriff’s Office (MSO) on Jan. 21 began vaccinating staff and incarcerated individuals in accordance with the timeline established by the Baker-Polito Administration and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH).
Those living and working in congregate settings (including jails and shelters) have been identified as the fourth priority group within Phase One of the Commonwealth’s COVID-19 vaccination plan.
By the end of Jan. 21, approximately 130 total staff members and incarcerated individuals will have received the first dose of the Moderna vaccine. Vaccinations will resume on Friday morning.
