Major work ahead for Route 1A in Walpole

WALPOLE - The Massachusetts Department of Transportation is announcing that it will be conducting corridor improvement operations on Route 1A (Main Street), from north of the Route 1A/Route 27 intersection to the Norwood town line, in Walpole. The work will begin on Monday, April 5, and is scheduled to continue through November 2025.
Work will occur weekly, Monday through Friday, during daytime hours from 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
The work will primarily consist of a full-depth roadway reconstruction; the installation of traffic signals at multiple intersections; and the replacement of the Route 1A Bridge over the Neponset River. The work will also include the construction of sidewalks, wheelchair ramps, new granite curb, drainage improvements, installation of new signs and pavement markings.
