Reply(1) The governor s bill would empower municipalities to extend through Nov. 29 special permits they have awarded during the pandemic to restaurants that launched or expanded outdoor dining and alcohol service. (Dave Copeland/Patch) Gov. Charlie Baker on Tuesday proposed keeping some pandemic-era policies such as remote public meetings and expanded outdoor dining in place beyond the state of emergency s end scheduled for June 15. Daily News Staff and News Services Thanks, but no thanks.  That s essentially what state Rep. Jack Patrick Lewis, D-Framingham, told supporters who apparently urged him to run for mayor this fall.  Instead, Lewis is throwing his support behind former Selectman and City Councilor Charlie Sisitsky, who is officially launching his campaign for mayor with a formal announcement at 5 p.m. today at Framingham s Historic Village Hall, 2 Oak St.  Thank you to everyone who urged me to run to be the next mayor of Framingham, Lewis said in a statement to supporters. I love representing you and advocating for our shared values. While I appreciate your trust and faith, our work together on Beacon Hill is not done.

Ahead of their 6 p.m. meeting, all five members of the Yarmouth Board of Selectmen were seated in what were once their usual chairs.  Though they were divided by sheets of plexiglass, it was the first time members of the town’s legislative body were together for a regular meeting since the pandemic began more than a year ago. Still absent from the basement meeting room in Town Hall were members of the public, who were waiting to weigh in via Zoom. Before the cameras started rolling, the board members listened as JP Ludwig, a technical consultant working with multiple Cape towns to support virtual meetings, explained how the hybrid meeting would unfold.
