HOLYOKE – Police have arrested a suspect in a six-week-old homicide, after an officer directing traffic at a road construction project spotted the wanted man.
Felix Torres-Rodriguez, 28, of Holyoke, was arrested Friday on a warrant charging him with murder in the death of Robert James, 52, of Agawam, said James Leydon, spokesman for Hampden District Attorney Anthony Gulluni.
Torres-Rodriguez was apprehended on Spring Street, near the same location where the Oct. 30 homicide occurred, Leydon said.

Authorities arrested five men during the past week, including a Belchertown resident, and seized more than two kilograms of fentanyl as part of a lengthy investigation into a drug-trafficking organization, according to the Massachusetts State Police. The arrests also led to the seizure of two kilograms of cocaine, 11 firearms, and approximately $12,000 in cash.
“This long-running, multi-agency investigation has dismantled a prominent drug trafficking organization here in the western Massachusetts region,” Hampden District Attorney Anthony D. Two Kilos of Fentanyl Seized During Narcotics Investigation
A long running investigation into a substantial drug trafficking organization culminated this week with the arrest of five suspects, and the seizure of over two kilograms of Fentanyl, two kilograms of cocaine, 11 firearms, and approximately $12,000.
As reported in a media release, participating in the investigation were: the Hampden District Attorney’s Office, the Hampden District Attorney s Hampden County Narcotics Task Force and the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Hampden District Attorney’s Office, Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office, Springfield Police Department Narcotics Unit, United States Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, Homeland Security Investigations, the West Springfield, Holyoke, Chicopee Police Departments, Hampden County Sheriff’s Department, Massachusetts State Police’s Commonwealth Interstate Narcotics Reduction Enforcement Team, Massachusetts State Police G
