The St. Louis Blues will share an affiliate with the Vancouver Canucks this winter as the Springfield Thunderbirds sit out the abbreviated 2020-2021 American Hockey League season.
The Thunderbirds announced their decision to opt out of the 26-game season Monday due to safety and logistical concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. Springfield is one of three teams to opt out of the AHL season.

The Springfield Parking Authority has sold the Civic Center Garage for three-and-a-half-million dollars.
The buyer is the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority, which owns and operates the next-door MassMutual Center.
Plans were announced Wednesday to tear down the 50-year-old garage and build a new one.
“This is a strategic investment by the MCCA in the future of downtown Springfield,” said David Gibbons, Executive Director of the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority. “The MassMutual Center is a key economic driver for the city and region and the construction of a new garage adjacent to our venue will further enhance the recent major investments in the city.”
