Kota Kinabalu: A former bank teller was slapped with a fine of RM8,000 or 20 months jail by the Magistrate’s Court here Tuesday for accessing a bank’s computer without authorisation two years ago.
Mohd Arwi Awang Asal, 28, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles to committing the offence by changing the telephone number in Bank Rakyat’s Web Branch Delivery System (BDS) and cancelled the old ATM card as well as issuing a new ATM card to a Bank Rakyat account that belonged to one Obed Benjamin Yanggau with fraudulent intent to cause loss to Obed.

Kota Kinabalu: A 26-year-old unemployed man was fined RM3,000 or six months jail by the Magistrate’s Court here Tuesday for having an imitation sniper firearm in Penampang last year.
Yong Tze Chun pleaded guilty before Magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles to having the sniper replica at 5.30pm on Oct 15, 2020 at a house in Taman Millenium Height Phase 1.
The charge under Section 36 (1) of the Arms Act 1960 provides for a jail term of up to a year or fine of up to RM5,000 or both on conviction.

Earlier, the court heard from the prosecution that Yong, who was arrested by police on another offence, led the police to a house at the said residency and upon inspection, the police found one suspected imitation sniper firearm hanging on the wall.

Kota Kinabalu: Two men were each given nine months jail for stealing seven sacks of red onions and garlic from a shop, two months ago.
Mohd Elmay Emlani, 21, and Absrin Abraham, 29, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles on Monday to stealing four sacks of red onions and three sacks of garlic at the Pick N Pay shop at Taman Tuan Huat here at 1.15pm on Jan 29, this year.
Inspector Kelvan Elson Maik, prosecuting, told the court that both Elmay and Absrin were arrested by police on Jan 31 following a report lodge of a theft at the said shop.

Kota Kinabalu: A man and woman were charged with two counts of cheating two senior citizens amounting to RM516,511.96.
Ser Kah Hoh, 25, and Wong Sin Lei, 27, pleaded not guilty separately before Magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles to the charges against them on Tuesday.
On the first count, the duo is accused of cheating one Chung En Oi, 68, by deceiving the latter about a lucky draw worth RM1 million which resulted in Chung to give RM400,000 to the duo.

They allegedly committed the crime together with two accomplices who were still at large at a parking lot in Lido on June 28, 2018.
