Farnborough driver cops two-year ban

Ivan Mark Davenport knew that, but he thought he had no other option. He got caught and it cost him a two-year licence disqualification and a $750 fine. The 29-year-old was at Stony Creek, Byfield, on January 10 with his partner and his three-year-old son when he said she nearly had an accident while driving and suffered a panic attack. Davenport said it was getting late in the day, his partner couldn’t continue driving, and he believed there were no other options but for him to drive them home. At 5.50pm, police intercepted the vehicle on Farnborough Rd and checks revealed Davenport was disqualified from driving by a court order.

World War II ornaments land Yeppoon man in court

Premium Content A Yeppoon man charged after police found bullets in his bedroom has escaped punishment. David Anthony Froschauer, 36, pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court last Thursday to possessing explosives (ammunition). The court heard that Froschauer was charged after police found 11 bullets in a small brown pouch while executing a search warrant at his Whitman St residence on December 13. The prosecution told Magistrate Jason Schubert that Froschauer had never held a weapon’s licence. Froschauer, who had no criminal history, said the bullets were ornaments from World War II and had belonged to his father and prior to that his grandfather.

Zilzie mum caught with knuckle dusters, drugs

Premium Content Subscriber only Police found drugs and knuckle dusters during a search of a Zilzie mum’s residence in December. Rebekah Elizabeth Rodgers, 36, pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrate’s Court last Thursday to possessing cannabis, drug utensils and a weapon. The court heard that police attended Rodgers’ Falcon Crescent residence at 11.07am on December 27 last year. In a bedroom, officers found 8.6g of cannabis and drug utensils. They also found a knuckle duster weapon which was seized. Rodgers told Magistrate Jason Schubert she had no excuses for her offending. Mr Schubert fined Rodgers $850 and did not record a conviction.

Air rifle found on Yeppoon woman s lounge

Premium Content Subscriber only The December 20 discovery led to Carly Michelle Chambers facing Yeppoon Magistrates Court last Thursday. There she pleaded guilty to unlawfully possessing a weapon. The court heard police had attended the 37-year-old’s Todd Avenue residence and saw the air rifle painted in a green camouflage colour. It was also told Chambers had a previous weapon possession offence in 2018. Before determining penalty, Magistrate Jason Schubert sought details about Chambers’ SPER (State Penalties Enforcement Registry) debt which was revealed to be more than $9400. Mr Schubert further noted that Chambers’ last SPER payment was made in March of 2017. Given those circumstances, Mr Schubert said it was no longer sufficient to issue a fine.

NAMED: Yeppoon drink-drivers caught

Premium Content These people pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court last week to drink-driving. Beau Patrick Mathews, 22, blew almost four times the legal limit when he was caught driving on Yeppoon’s Braithwaite St on December 12. His blood alcohol reading was 0.180. Representing himself in court, Mathews, who had a very limited traffic history, told Magistrate Jason Schubert that his decision to drive after being at the pub was “very stupid”. Mr Schubert fined Mathews $1200 and disqualified him from driving for 12 months. Scott Healy, 35, appeared in court via video link from custody. The court heard Healy came to the attention of police on Rockhampton Rd on October 12.
