41-year-old accused of shooting man multiple times in Harrisburg: police Updated Dec 24, 2020; A Harrisburg resident is charged with attempted homicide after police say he shot a man multiple times in the city earlier this month. Patrick T. Brown, 41, shot a man in the “chest and body” around 11:30 p.m. Dec. 11 on the 1400 block of State Street, according to an affidavit of probable cause. The affidavit said the man was dropped off at UPMC Harrisburg Hospital and rushed to surgery. His current condition is unknown. While the man was being dropped off at the hospital, police discovered multiple shell casings near North 15th and State streets, according to the affidavit.

Man jailed for sexual assault of child

POTTSVILLE — A city man was jailed Wednesday charged by Pottsville police with sexually assaulting a 9-year-old child. Police said Detective Joseph Welsh charged Michael Adam Heck, 40, with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, indecent assault, indecent exposure, sexual abuse of children, unlawful contact with a minor, corruption of minors and endangering the welfare of a child. Heck was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge David A. Plachko, Port Carbon, and committed to Schuylkill County Prison unable to post $250,000 straight cash bail. Police said the investigation that led to the charges began on Dec. 11 when Patrolman Anna Flail was told the child disclosed that she had been the victim of inappropriate sexual contact committed by Heck inside his home.

Ferrier ORWIGSBURG — A Pottsville man is headed to Schuylkill County Court on separate driving under the influence charges arising from incidents in Schuylkill Haven and West Brunswick Township. Dylan M. Evans, 24, of 927 Cressona Road, Apt. 2, faces charges of possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, DUI, disregarding traffic lane, failure to drive at a safe speed and failure to notify police of accident in one case and DUI and stop sign violation in the other. Magisterial District Judge James R. Ferrier on Tuesday ordered charges in the first case held for court after a preliminary hearing. He bound over the charges for court in the second case after Evans waived his right to a hearing in it.

Charges filed in fatal crash

TREMONT — A Mount Carmel man was charged Thursday with causing a crash on June 20 in Foster Township that claimed the life of a woman. Foster Township Police Chief James Nettles said Ryan Joseph Little, 23, of 505 E. Fifth St., was charged with DUI, DUI-highest rate, driving on the wrong side of the road, careless driving, homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence, aggravated assault by vehicle while driving under the influence and involuntary manslaughter. Little was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge David J. Rossi, Tremont, and released on $100,000 unsecured bail pending a preliminary hearing. Nettles said the crash happened on Route 901 around 7:55 p.m. on a bridge that crosses over Interstate 81.
