This Jackson Sun live blog will provide the latest weather updates, school closings, church closures, road impacts and any other important information related to Thursday s expected severe weather that first started Wednesday.
The National Weather Service in Memphis issued an ice and winter storm warning for nearly all of West Tennessee on Wednesday.
The NWS predicted freezing rain to from late Wednesday evening through Thursday afternoon, causing Thursday closures.
Temperatures are expected to remain below freezing, which will keep ice in many areas across West Tennessee.
The NWS is stressing winter weather safety and monitoring the lastest conditions and forecasts.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - For the past year, schools in North Alabama have continued to educate students throughout the pandemic. Weâll learn more about their progress come February 10, during the State of the Schools address.
During a normal year, schools are required to provide at least 180 full instructional days.
William Tunnell with the Alabama Education Association said that requirement is also broken down into hours.
âA few years back our law was broadened to allow school systems to operate in a 1,080 hour time frame as well,â Tunnell said.

MADISON COUNTY, Ala. (WAFF) - Lynn Fanning Elementary School is making the transition to remote learning next week.
According to the Madison County School System, Lynn Fanning will move to 100% remote learning from January 11 until January 19.
Chromebooks and Mifis will be issued to students who need them. Exams will be administered remotely.
Student meals will be available each day from 10:15 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
