Surging Crude Oil Prices Send Pump Prices Higher Despite Decreasing Demand
Retail gas prices are rising in the first days of 2021 even though demand for gasoline has fallen to the lowest level in eight months. Crude oil prices have surged above $50 per barrel, putting upward pressure on pump prices. Many states are seeing increases of more than a nickel.
For the week, the national average for regular jumps seven cents to $2.33 a gallon. The Oregon average adds four cents to $2.65.

Family Access Network Receives $7,500 from Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation
The Family Access Network (FAN) received a $7,500 grant in support of FAN Advocate services in Deschutes County from Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation in July 2020. These funds will help connect disadvantaged children and their families to crucial resources like rent assistance, clothing, food, healthcare, and much more.

Deschutes County Health Services is partnering with Oregon Health Authority to offer a free drive-thru COVID-19 testing event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 13, at the Deschutes County Fair & Expo Center. This testing event is open to anyone. No symptoms or ID are required to be tested. Participants are asked to wear a mask and register online at https://www.doineedacovid19test.com/Redmond OR 4369.html. Staff will be onsite to register those who are unable to preregister. Individuals will receive a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test and test results will be available in two to three days. "We are grateful to be able to provide an opportunity for our community to easily access free COVID-19 testing," said Deschutes County Public Health Director Nahad Sadr-Azodi. "This event will also allow our teams to prepare for future vaccine clinics at the Deschutes County Fair & Expo Center."
