GENESEE COUNTY, MI A retired Genesee County District Court judge has been chosen as the county’s first chief public defender.
The county Board of Commissioners voted Wednesday, March 17, to appoint Nathaniel C. Perry III to the post, picking him over two other attorneys who were also finalists for the position.

Genesee County Sheriff’s Office Honors Women This Week
The Genesee County Sheriff s Office took time this week to honor the women that make a difference every day by working there.
Sheriff Swanson does a video update every week to update the community on what the sheriff s office is doing. This week the majority of the video was dedicated to honoring the women that work at the sheriff s office. Each of the women honored during the video received a yellow rose, and a sheriff s challenge coin as a gift.

Sheriff Swanson made sure to point out that the women being honored have been trail blazers at the office. They are the women that have broken down walls for the generations of women after them that would like to work in law enforcement. A few of the women that were honored got up to speak about their experiences during the presentation.
Mott Community College offering free tuition to qualifying students through STEM Scholars program

FLINT, MI – Mott Community College is offering free tuition to students who qualify through its STEM Scholars program.
The program is aimed at academically talented students that plan on attending college full-time to complete an Associate in Science degree and are interested in a STEM-related career after graduation.
STEM is short for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics and includes such fields as, but not limited to, biology, physics, environmental science, computer information sciences, mechanical engineering, and statistics.
Mott Community College (MCC) is part of the Michigan Reconnect program enabling people aged 25 years and older to attend community college tuition-free.
