Some University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa student-athletes are gaining a broader perspective and deeper learning experience with a customized approach to their college degrees. The Interdisciplinary Studies Program (
ISP) allows students to work with several academic departments and develop their own degree and path to graduation. The program’s goal is to provide students with diverse ways of thinking and the knowledge and skills necessary for their future professional endeavors.

The COVID-19 pandemic created a silver lining for two University of Hawaiʻi theatre productions temporarily halted from in-person performances. The Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (
KCACTF) Region 8 is normally held at different sites on the West Coast, making it difficult and expensive for
UH productions to appear. However, this year’s online festival has allowed the productions to perform virtually.
I’m Lot Lane (a solo effort) from
Oriental Faddah and Son from the Windward Community College Theatre Program are among six productions invited to the national showcase, February 10–13.
Senator Akshar Recognizes Students at 5 Chenango Co. Schools

This is the 4th year that . The students are chosen by their school districts for their accomplishments when it comes to great leadership, showing compassion, school spirit or improvement among their peers.
This month students were recognized on-line via Zoom from the following school districts: DCMO BOCES, Valley Heights Christian Academy, Norwich High School, Oxford Academy High School and Greene High School. All students recognized as an “Akshar All-Star” are presented by Senator Akshar with a t-shirt and a framed certificate. Below is a list of the Akshar All-Star students this month:

Lord of Life Lutheran Church events
BAXTER Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 6190 Fairview Road, Baxter, will have a virtual Christmas Eve candlelight worship service noon Thursday, Dec. 24, on YouTube and will be available to view any time after the premiere. The link is

Bethlehem Lutheran Church services
Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 418 Eighth Ave. NE, Brainerd, a communion service will be livestreamed at 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 24. Drive-in services with communion will be offered at 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Arrive early, stay in the car and park in the designated area. Pastor Mark Skinner will be preaching at all three services. Prelude for all of the services will begin 15 minutes prior to the start time.
