Karnataka CM assures support to restart Wistron s iPhone-making plant

Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa on Thursday said that his government would give full support to Wistron for restarting production at the earliest at its iPhone manufacturing plant near Bengaluru, which was ransacked on alleged wage issues earlier this week. “We have taken action. It is a very important foreign company and this (incident) should not have happened. The Prime Minister is also very much worried about this development,” Yediyurappa said. “We will give full support to that company and let them continue production without any problem,” he added. Earlier in the day, the police detained a leader of the Students’ Federation of India (SFI), which is affiliated to the Commiunist Party of India (Marxist), in connection with the rampage that took place at the Taiwanese-headquartered plant in the wee hours of Saturday which has led to a loss of Rs 50 crore, according to the company.

After killing 6 goats, 11 sheep in Bengaluru s Girinagar, Leopard spotted in Nandi corridor | Watch The vandalism that occurred at iPhone manufacturer Wistron s facility in Karnataka Kolar last week has been traced to the Students Federation of India (SFI), an affiliate of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the police have arrested local SFI activist.  Kolar Rural Police on Thursday formally arrested SFI s Kolar taluk president Srikanth for allegedly instigating and the employees of Wistron, who were angry over non-payment of salaries, for the attck. Srikanth was detained earlier on Wednesday by the police.  Why SFI taluk president held? The Kolar Rural Police officials, who are investigating the case, said Srikanth mobilised the employees, instigated them for protest and brought outsiders into the Wistron factory for the protest which turned violent.

Wistron Infocomm Manufacturing India The violence that broke out at Wistron Infocomm Manufacturing India Pvt Ltd in Kolar has led to political unrest in the state after Student Federation of India’s (SFI) local president’s arrest. India has slammed China as it tried to use this incident to malign India, it’s media issued statements that said that Indian labour was chaotic. The local president of SFI, Comrade Srikanth was arrested after allegations of a BJP MP in the probe being carried out after violence erupted at an iPhone manufacturing plant in Kolar on Saturday. Workers and labours got engaged in violent activities in the plant and alleged that they were not being paid their salaries and wages on time and were being underpaid.
