Punch Newspapers Sections Olufemi Olaniyi, Ibadan The Governing Council of the Oyo State College of Education, Lanlate, has rusticated the Student Union President of the school, Olaitan Muhammed, over the protests that rocked the institution in November. The letter of suspension, with reference number COEL/R/GCA 3/48, dated December 16, 2020, was signed by the acting Registrar of the school, M. O. Abioye. Apart from the president, other student union leaders suspended by the college are Abel Opoola, Speaker of the student union, as well as Sheu Lawal, Yusuf Abdullahi and Qozeem Qudus. The letter read, “You will recall that you appeared before the panel of investigation that was set up by the governing council to explain the roles that you played in the students’ violent demonstrations that took place on Friday, November 6 and Monday, November 9, 2020. The panel has since submitted its preliminary report.
