SINGAPORE - The Ministry of Health (MOH) is investigating 13 cases of Covid-19 infection among individuals who had served stay-home notices (SHN) at Mandarin Orchard Singapore, said the ministry in a statement on Saturday (Dec 19).
As a precautionary measure, the hotel will stop accepting new guests with immediate effect.
Those currently serving SHNs at the hotel will be moved to another dedicated facility. It did not take in guests from Sunday (Dec 13) as its contract to serve as a dedicated facility will expire at the end of the month.
This brings the total number of cases to 58,403.
There are no new cases of locally transmitted Covid-19 infections today.
17 imported cases
Amongst them, three were returning Singaporeans or Permanent Residents.
Here s a breakdown of the imported cases:
One Singaporean (Case 58636)
Eight Work Permit holders (Cases 58619, 58620, 58622, 58623, 58624, 58625, 58626, 58627)
Six Short-Term Visit pass holders (Cases 58617, 58618, 58628, 58629, 58631, 58632)
MOH investigating 13 cases who served SHN at Mandarin Orchard Singapore
Earlier this afternoon (Dec. 19), MOH shared that it was investigating 13 Covid-19 cases previously deemed to be imported cases from other countries.
The 13 cases had served their SHN at Mandarin Orchard Singapore between Oct. 22 and Nov. 11, 2020.
They were all confirmed to be infected between Nov. 2 and Nov. 11, and were observed to have high genetic similarity despite having arrived from different countries.

1. Before arrival in Singapore
All travellers must submit a pre-trip health and travel history declaration before arriving here.
Those who are not Singapore citizens or permanent residents (PR) need entry approval from government agencies or certain travel passes to enter Singapore.
Depending on a person s travel history, they will need to comply with different requirements.
Some will need a negative result for an approved Covid-19 swab test taken within 72 hours before departure.
Singaporeans and PRs do not need to take a Covid-19 polymerase chain reaction test before returning here.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) is investigating 13 COVID-19 cases who served their stay-home notice at Mandarin Orchard Singapore hotel after they were observed to have high genetic similarity despite coming from different countries. The health ministry and the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) said on Saturday (Dec 19) that this suggests the cases were likely infected from a similar source and they cannot exclude that transmissions could have occurred at the hotel.
