(Photo © Dasta) The Designated Areas for Sustainable Tourism Administration (Dasta) is helping local communities launch 3D street art in Sukhothai province. The graffiti reflects the local way of life, according to Dasta, and provides an alternative activity for visitors apart from the famed Sukhothai and Si Satchanalai historical parks. Street art can be found near Talat Rim Yom 2437BC, or the Rim Yom Market, founded in 1894 on the banks of the Yom River in Kong Krailat district. The market is open on every first Saturday of each month from 4-9pm. Visitors can try popular local snacks such as khanom phing (northern-style cookies made of tapioca flour and coconut milk) and thong muan (crispy coconut rolls).

Mandarin Oriental releases progress update on eliminating single-use plastic

Mandarin Oriental releases progress update on eliminating single-use plastic DUBAI, 12 hours, 31 minutes ago In October 2019, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group pledged to eliminate all single-use plastic (SUP) across its portfolio of luxury hotels by the end of March 2021.   Three months on from that deadline, the Group has made significant progress towards meeting the goal, despite ongoing challenges. By the end of Q1 2021, the Group had achieved nearly 70 per cent reduction in this annual plastic footprint. Based on estimated plastic stock depletion timelines and supplier delivery commitments, it is expected that all hotels will eliminate SUP by the end of Q1 2022, avoiding 930 tonnes of plastic waste each year. The principal reason for the Group not hitting the target date is the delay in usage of existing SUP supplies due to the low business levels caused by the pandemic.
