Mega projects to change Bangladesh’s face, says Japanese envoy

Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh ITO Naoki has said once the ongoing three mega-infrastructure projects are completed, they will change the face of Bangladesh and will have a positive impact on the future of the country.
The Japanese projects are Matarbari Deep Seaport, Dhaka Metro and Terminal-3 of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, said the Japanese Embassy on Thursday.
He told this while speaking at the online lecture series styled ‘Japan Lecture Series’ jointly organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Japan and the East Asia Study Center, Dhaka University on Wednesday.

A foreign ship conducted a test at Matarbari Deep Sea Port this morning to check its capacity.
The vessel Venus Triumph anchored at the port at 10:20am, Md Abul Kalam, director of Coal Power Generation Company, Bangladesh, briefed reporters at Matarbari, our Cox s Bazar staff correspondent reports.
The Panama flag carrying vessel started for the port on December 22, according to the sources at the company. It began the journey from Indonesia, they said.
It reached the port through a channel, which has been prepared earlier for this purpose, in the Bay of Bengal, sources at the port said.
