Manchester, England – Manchester United’s Premier League match against Liverpool was postponed on Sunday after United fans forced their way into the stadium and stormed the pitch at Old Trafford to protest against the club’s owners the Glazer family.
“Following discussion between the Police, the Premier League, Trafford Council and the clubs, our match against Liverpool has been postponed due to safety and security considerations around the protest today,” United said in a statement after the game was called off.
“Discussions will now take place with the Premier League on a revised date for the fixture.”
Liverpool issued a statement saying it was in full agreement with the decision.

The protests, which took aim at the Glazer family that owns the club, commenced prior to the scheduled kick-off when a group of people gained access to the stadium and stormed the pitch, chanting Glazers out! and reportedly damaging recording equipment and other stadium facilities.
