Montini senior receives award from National Academy of Future Physicians Montini senior Joel Camba Courtesy of Montini Catholic High School     Updated 1/11/2021 10:45 AM Montini Catholic High School in Lombard is congratulating senior Joel Camba for being the recipient of the National Academy of Future Physicians Award of Excellence. The organization s primary founding principal is to recognize and reward high-achieving students dedicated to medicine or the STEM subjects.   The award comes on the heels of Joel s representation of Montini Catholic and the state of Illinois at the Congress of Future Medical Leaders in Boston Massachusetts (as a junior in 2019). To be considered for Congress Delegate, Joel was required to meet specific criteria having an aspiration to become a physician, scientist or technologist, possessing strong leadership potential and achieving a GPA of 3.5 or above (current or cumulative).

Courtesy of Montini Catholic High School   Montini Catholic High School in Lombard has recorded a Christmas album and released it online. Virtually In Sync was the brainchild of Montini music director Donnie Glowinski. The album features the Montini band, chamber choir and concert choir performing holiday favorites.   My main mantra this year has been even though we are not together we can still make music, Glowinski said in a statement. I wanted the students to have a product to show for their hard work this semester, and our concerts usually fill that void. An album seemed like the best way to embrace the current climate.

It’s a W, symbolizing Woods, the family name, struck through by two linked diamond shapes, representing sacrifice.  “We’re all gonna do it,” Woods said about getting the tattoo. “All the boys in the family.” For Woods, family is everything, and sacrifice is the norm. To get to Stanford, he had to give up four years with his family for a chance to wrestle against elite competition, forego carefree high school afternoons for tireless hours in the gym and leave his hometown of Albuquerque, New Mexico, for the unfamiliar city of Chicago, Illinois.
