Monterey County’s Health Department says the state s vaccine supply is expected to be reduced by over 400,000 doses beginning next week.
Santa Cruz County says the decrease in doses statewide is primarily due to reductions in availability of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
How this will impact upcoming vaccination clinics is unclear. For now, counties are continuing to plan to vaccinate additional people, especially as the April 15 date approaches in which everyone 16+ will be eligible to schedule an appointment to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

The governor is offering financial incentives for districts that bring select grades back to campus. Despite a statewide push to innoculate, not all Monterey County educators have completed or even started their COVID-19 vaccination process. The county opened vaccine appointments to the education sector on March 3.
A Monterey County district says it will forego state-issued reopening funds in order to ensure the safety and health of families and staff.
