A spokesman for Thames Valley Police s Major Crime Team said that investigations into the murder were continuing. The force attended a report of an assault on the Grand Union Canal near Broughton in Aylesbury at around 12.20pm on Monday. On attendance, a man was found with serious injuries. He tragically died at the scene despite efforts of officers and paramedics. Following a formal identification procedure today, the victim has been identified as Clive Porter, aged 63, from Tring, Hertfordshire. Additionally, a Home Office post mortem examination was carried out on Wednesday and the cause of death is currently pending. Two arrests have been made in connection with this investigation.

A canal worker who died after being attacked on a towpath has been identified as a former police officer.
Clive Porter, 63, had served with Hertfordshire Police and was working for the Canal and River Trust when he was assaulted.
He was found with serious injuries on the Grand Union Canal, near Broughton, Aylesbury just after midday on Monday.
A man aged 34 has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is under police guard in hospital.
Thames Valley Police said the arrested man was in the custody of officers while receiving hospital treatment , but did not release details about why he has been admitted to hospital.
