Man Dies After Fall Below The Rim At Grand Canyon

  Credit kaibab.org   Staff received a call that Phoenix resident Jaiquan Carter had fallen about 80 feet from the South Kaibab Trail above the Black Bridge that spans the Colorado River. Park rangers responded and found Carter’s body. He was believed to have been day hiking when the incident occurred. The National Park Service is conducting an investigation into the death in coordination with the Coconino County Medical Examiner. Tags: 

New Law Will Give Gold Star Families Free Park Access

16 Dec 2020 A provision of the 2021 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) will give Gold Star families free access to public lands across the country. The America the Beautiful National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass has an $80 annual price tag for most Americans. Now, Gold Star families, defined as those who lost a family member in war, an international terrorist attack, or a military operation outside of the United States, will also be eligible for the free admission pass. The pass gives free access to the holder of the Gold Star Family pass as well as up to three passengers per vehicle 16 years and older. Children under 16 are admitted for free.

Hiker, 23, plunges 80 feet to his death from a trail at the Grand Canyon National Park

Jaiquan Carter, 23, from Phoenix, died Tuesday in the park He fell from the popular South Kaibab Trail and landed above the Black Bridge Incident unfolded when Carter was day hiking along the trail, authorities said An investigation has been launched by the National Park Service in partnership with the Coconino County Medical Examiner s Office His death comes just six months after a 49-year-old woman died from heat exhaustion while hiking along the same trail in June  In July another woman died when she fell 100 feet from another park trail
