Most travelers, 2.8 million, will take a road trip. AAA expects to rescue more than 112,000 stranded drivers during the 5-day travel period (Thursday to Monday), mostly due to dead batteries and flat tires
Top road trip destinations for SoCal residents are Las Vegas, San Diego, Zion/Bryce Canyon National Parks, Grand Canyon National Park, Yosemite National Park and the top air destination according to AAA for SoCal residents is Hawaii.
Across Arizona, communities will be celebrating the birth of our nation on the 4th of July. From Apache Junction to Yuma, there are many communities with opportunities to celebrate Independence Day.
Local parades in several White Mountains communities to celebrate Independence Day will temporarily close sections of state highways on Saturday, July 3, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
Drivers should plan for delays while the following temporary closures are in place:
SHOW LOW: US 60 between mileposts 339 and 341 and SR 260 at milepost 341 from 9 a.m. to noon.
SPRINGERVILLE-EAGAR: US 60 at milepost 387 and SR 260 at milepost 396 from 10 a.m. to noon.

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA The Fourth of July weekend is almost upon us. Still, the crush of San Juan Capistrano and Southland residents making their holiday escape is expected to jam busy freeways and airport terminals Wednesday and Thursday.
The Automobile Club of Southern California estimates that 3.3 million Southern California residents will travel over the weekend with the holiday travel period officially beginning Thursday and continuing through Monday.
