Incoming Artistic Director Christopher Chase Carter returns to Mercury Theater Chicago where he collaborated on the hit productions of Little Shop of Horrors and the Jeff Award nominated musical Hair. Originally from Muskegon Michigan, Carter began his theater career in Grand Rapids, Michigan where he attended Grand Valley State University on scholarship. As COVID-19 cases continue to climb in Michigan, four local school buildings were added to this week’s School-Related Outbreak Report from the state. The schools were among seven in Ottawa County and 83 around the state added to the report.
Holland High School, Zeeland West High School and West Ottawa’s Harbor Lights and Macatawa Bay Middle Schools were all added to the report. The schools each had two cases related to their outbreaks except for Zeeland West, which had seven.
Last week, Holland and Zeeland both went remote for Wednesday and Thursday at the high school level along with middle school at ZPS in response to elevated cases and quarantines.

BATTLE CREEK, MI Veterans in West Michigan and across the state, as well as their caregivers and spouses, are invited to receive COVID-19 vaccines at more than a dozen clinics planned across the region this month.
The push to vaccinate more veterans and their spouses and caregivers is the result of the SAVE LIVES Act signed into law March 24 by President Joe Biden, according to a news release from the Battle Creek VA Medical Center. The legislation removes some of the legal limits on the medical care the VA can provide to veterans, based on health care eligibility.

In the 2019 season, nearly 90% of the 281 pitchers who threw more than 1,000 pitches threw fastballs that averaged over 90 mph. The 100 mph fastball – once a newsworthy event – is now relatively common.

But MLB pitchers aren t the only expert throwers; most healthy people can throw faster than our much stronger chimpanzee relatives, who max out at around 30 mph. A study of boys from the ages of 8 to 14 who were only moderately trained in throwing could still throw two times faster than chimps.
