ROYAL OAK, Mich. (FOX 2) - The death of 18-year-old Taylor DeRosa, who was found dead on campus at Grand Valley State University in December, has been ruled an accidental death by the Ottawa County Medical Examiner with hypothermia and alcohol a contributing factor.
According to information from the university, DeRosa s death was ruled accidental by the medical examiner. Taylor’s death is a terrible tragedy for her family and all those close to her, said GVSU President Philomena V. Mantella. We are a caring community and our hearts go out to all who knew and loved Taylor. Our routines during COVID have put physical space between us, but we should work to stay emotionally connected, especially as we grieve the loss of a promising young woman who was part of our campus community.

ALLENDALE, Mich. – The death of an 18-year-old Grand Valley State University student whose body was found last month on campus has been ruled accidental, caused by hypothermia.
Alcohol also contributed to Taylor DeRosa’s death, the school said Thursday.
Grand Valley spokeswoman Mary Eilleen Lyon said an investigation showed DeRosa had attended several social gatherings.
Her body was found on a sidewalk about 400 to 500 yards from where she was let out of a vehicle. Security camera footage led investigators to conclude DeRosa did not interact with anyone else before she died, Lyon said.

Local health officials around the country are using an old technology to help vaccine people against COVID-19. They re setting up low-powered AM radio transmitters made by a West Michigan company.
Information Station Specialists President Bill Baker says the mini-radio stations provide instructions to those waiting in line to get the vaccine. People arrive, and they don’t know what to do necessarily. It’s a lot to put on a sign for people to read because there’s various instructions. In some parts of the country, they’re calling different parties to come in for the vaccination at a given time to listening. So, they’re sort of using the radio systems as paging systems also.
