Royal Caribbean International has hailed the return to sailing in the Caribbean as a “milestone more than 15 months in the making”.
The company restarted cruises in the region at the weekend with Adventure of the Seas sailing from Nassau in the Bahamas.
The ship carried a limited number of 1,000 passengers with those aged 16 and over (94%) fully vaccinated alongside the crew.
The vessel started a summer season of seven-night sailings to the line’s Perfect Day at CocoCay private island, Grand Bahama Island and Cozumel in Mexico.
Royal Caribbean International president and chuef executve Michael Bayley said: “The return of Adventure of the Seas marks a start in the tremendous step forward our guests have been waiting for and we’ve been working toward for more than 15 months.
