Disney to Convert Some Grand Floridian Rooms to DVC

Some of the hotel rooms at Disney s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa at the Walt Disney World will be converted into Resort Studio properties for the Disney Vacation Club, under plans announced by Disney today.
The proposed project would see Big Pine Key (building nine) at the Grand Floridian converted into approximately 200 timeshare Resort Studios, each accommodating up to five guests.
Planned for opening in summer 2022, the converted building would become part of The Villas at Disney s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and its condominium association. Disney will release sales and booking information for this inventory at a later date.

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – At least 226 nuisance alligators have been trapped and removed from Walt Disney World property since a toddler was killed by an alligator at a Disney resort nearly five years ago, according to a report from ClickonOrlando.com.
Lane Thomas Graves, 2, was snatched and dragged into a lagoon from a beach outside Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort in June of 2016.
In the eight years before his death, wildlife trappers removed an average of 23 alligators a year from Disney property, but after the attack, substantially more alligators have been removed each year, state records show.

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – Wildlife trappers have captured and removed at least 226 nuisance alligators from Walt Disney World property since a toddler was killed by an alligator at a Disney resort nearly five years ago, state records show.
Lane Thomas Graves, 2, was building sandcastles on the beach outside Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort on June 14, 2016, when an alligator lunged out of the Seven Seas Lagoon as the toddler bent over to scoop up water with a bucket, a state investigation concluded.

Since various components of Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando began to come to life over the past seven months, visits there have, in some ways, reflected a microcosm of life during the pandemic.
In March 2020, Disney World and its California counterpart, the Disneyland Resort, closed their doors to visitors indefinitely. Disneyland would not reopen its parks until April 2021 due to state restrictions, but officials in Florida began planning a phased reopening as the spring of 2020 progressed.
